Iliya is the Chief Executive Officer of DotSensei and he oversees the corporate direction and strategy of the company, focusing on leadership, innovation and customer experience. He believes that Internet entrepreneurs and businesses of all sizes deserve a better service for a fraction of the cost charged by other domain companies. So, he founded DotSensei, bringing more than 13 years of domain industry experience. Iliya’s experience in the IT field dates since 2003 when he worked on the Tilix Linux project, the first Bulgarian Linux distribution that allowed all its main software to run by default in the Bulgarian language. Iliya has experience in the Internet industry since 2007, when he created the project for the first Bulgarian Cyrillic domain ".бг". Since then, he has been involved in various ICANN technical and policy working groups, mostly related to the Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs), domain registry technologies, WHOIS improvements, and also Internet governance issues like internationalization of the Internet, equal access, net neutrality and capacity building in Bulgaria. Over the past 10 years Iliya has held various executive positions at ICANN and at other Internet organizations. Iliya has been the main organizer of “Domain Forum” for more than six years, the first of its kind event in the Balkans region, entirely related to the domain industry. He was also the local host of the 14th ICANN-Studienkreis, the 2015 South Eastern European Dialogue on Internet Governance (SEEDIG) and the 2015 European dialogue on Internet governance (EuroDIG). As a speaker, he attended many events like: Domeniny, Domaining Europe, Internet Days, ICANN-Studienkreis, Regional Internet Forum in Belgrade, Russian national IGF and many others. Iliya holds a Law degree from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” where he studied Criminal, IT and Trademark law. He is an avid fan of travelling and enjoys meeting professionals at domain conferences held all across the world. When you ask Iliya which countries he has visited, he will most likely tell you that he lost count many years ago.
